John Marko was born on 4/20/1894 in Kingston, PA and died on 11/22/1978.  He married Mary Roman on 2/27/1921 in Pittston, PA.  Mary Roman was born on 8/15/1899 in Exeter, PA and died on 10/28/1972.  John and Mary lived in West Pittston, PA.  They had seven children.

John Marko enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 5, 1917 in Wilkes-Barre, PA.  He served in Bat. B. 109th Field Artillery.  When he enlisted, he was 23 years old and a machinist, had blue eyes, brown hair, dark complexion and was 5'8".  He served in France with A.E.F. from 5/19/1918 to 5/9/1919.  Engagements included Fismes-Vesle on Aug. 11-18, 1918; Oise Aisne on Aug. 18-Sept. 8, 1918; Meuse-Argonne Sept. 22-Oct. 8, 1918; and Ypres Lys Off. Oct. 29-Nov. 11, 1918.  John Marko was honorably discharged from the the U.S. Army at Camp Dix on May 19, 1919.
